Warranty Policy

This page explains how tyre warranties work when you buy from North East Tyres Ltd, what is covered, what is not covered, and how we help you if you need to make a claim. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Returns & Refund Policy.

1. Who provides the warranty?

All tyres supplied by North East Tyres Ltd are covered by the relevant manufacturer’s standard warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty is provided by the manufacturer of the tyre and not by North East Tyres Ltd. The exact terms, duration and conditions may vary between brands.

North East Tyres Ltd acts as the retailer and will assist you in submitting and managing a warranty claim with the manufacturer where applicable, but the final decision on any warranty claim is made by the manufacturer or their appointed inspector.

2. What is covered?

Manufacturer warranties are designed to cover faults that are present due to how the tyre was made, such as:

  • Defects in materials (for example, problems with the rubber compound or construction)
  • Defects in workmanship (for example, an issue that occurred during the manufacturing process)
  • Other issues specifically listed in the individual tyre manufacturer’s warranty terms

If a tyre is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect, the manufacturer may offer a replacement tyre, a partial credit based on remaining tread depth, or another remedy in line with their own warranty policy.

3. What is not covered?

The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or any damage that occurs after the tyre has been supplied and is in use. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Misuse, abuse or neglect of the tyre
  • Incorrect fitting or mounting to the wheel
  • Incorrect tyre size or load / speed rating chosen for the vehicle
  • Impact damage (for example hitting kerbs, potholes, debris or other road hazards)
  • Punctures or cuts caused by objects in the road
  • Running the tyre underinflated, overinflated or overloaded
  • Damage caused by poor wheel alignment, worn suspension or braking issues
  • Improper storage before fitting (for example long term exposure to heat, chemicals or sunlight)
  • Use outside the tyre’s intended specification (for example racing, track use or off-road use where not designed for it)
  • Tyres that have been altered, repaired improperly or modified

This reflects and matches the wording in our Terms & Conditions: This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, incorrect fitting, impact, punctures, improper storage or use outside the tyre’s intended specification.

4. Warranty length and manufacturer differences

Warranty periods and conditions are set by each tyre manufacturer individually. They may differ between brands and even between different models within the same brand. Some manufacturers base their decisions on tyre age, tread depth or pattern.

When you purchase tyres from us, you are covered by the standard warranty offered by the manufacturer of those tyres. North East Tyres Ltd does not offer an additional or separate warranty beyond the manufacturer’s own policy, but we will help you to use the manufacturer warranty where it applies.

5. How to start a warranty enquiry

If you believe your tyre may have a manufacturing defect, please contact us before removing or disposing of the tyre so we can advise on the next steps.

To start a warranty enquiry, please email enquiries@northeasttyres.com with the following information:

  • Your full name and contact details
  • Your order number and the date of purchase
  • Tyre size, brand and pattern
  • Clear photographs of the tyre, including the full tread, sidewall and DOT code
  • A short description of the issue and when it was first noticed

You can also contact us by phone on 0333 443 9994 during opening hours for initial advice.

6. Inspection and outcome

In most cases the manufacturer or their appointed agent will require the tyre to be inspected. This may involve:

  • Photographic assessment based on the pictures you provide, and/or
  • Physical inspection of the tyre at an approved centre or by returning the tyre to us

Once the inspection is complete, the manufacturer will confirm whether the tyre is covered by their warranty. Possible outcomes include:

  • No manufacturing defect found – the tyre is safe to continue using or has failed due to an excluded cause (for example impact damage or underinflation)
  • Manufacturing defect confirmed – a replacement tyre, partial credit or other remedy offered by the manufacturer in line with their policy

Because decisions are made by the manufacturer, we cannot guarantee that a claim will be accepted or predict what level of contribution they will offer in advance.

7. Relationship with returns and refunds

The warranty process is separate from your right to return unused tyres under our Returns & Refund Policy. If you wish to return unused and unfitted tyres within the allowed return period, please follow the steps in that policy instead.

Once tyres have been fitted and used, they can no longer be returned as new but may still be considered for a manufacturer warranty inspection if a defect is suspected.

8. Your legal rights

Nothing in this Warranty Information page removes or limits your statutory rights under UK consumer law. You may have additional rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods that apply alongside any manufacturer warranty.

If you are unsure whether your issue should be treated as a return, a warranty claim, or both, please contact us and we will explain the options available.
